It’s actually a green flag  when a groomer tells you they weren’t able to complete your dog’s groom today. Groomers are often expected to make every dog look perfect, no matter how the dog feels in the moment. And because most groomers aren’t trained in dog behavior or learning theory, they may unintentionally push dogs past their comfort level—even when they’re gentle, caring people.

It might surprise you that dog groomers are not required to have any type of certification. This means many professionals enter the field without formal education in behavior, learning theory, or low-stress handling. That’s why choosing someone with advanced training matters.

As a Master Groomer Behavior Specialist and Certified Cooperative Care Trainer, we take a behavior-focused, dog-centered approach to every session. We never force your pet through a procedure they’re struggling with. We follow the Association of Pet Dog  Trainer's humane hierarchy and use structured desensitization and counterconditioning to help your dog learn to be calm, comfortable, and cooperative. If your dog is having a hard day, we’ll always communicate that with you—and provide customized at-home exercises to support ongoing progress.

Grooming is a team effort between the groomer and the pet parent—and together, we help your dog build confidence one gentle step at a time.
